Terms & Conditions

1. Scope, organiser structure, priority of third-party terms

These Terms & Conditions apply to participation in Climate Week Zurich-related events and to registrations/tickets offered via Climate Week Zurich channels.

Climate Week Zurich is a platform through which events may be organised by Climate Week Zurich itself or  by third parties (venues, partner organisations, hosts, all together the “Partner”). For a specific event, additional terms may apply.

For that specific event, mandatory venue, host, and ticketing terms take precedence to the extent they govern admission, security, seating, refunds, house rules, and operational requirements.

2. Registration and conclusion of contract

A contract for participation is concluded when the responsible organiser (Climate Week Zurich and/or the relevant event Partner) confirms your registration (including by email or digital confirmation). Registrations and tickets may be subject to capacity limits and eligibility requirements. Climate Week Zurich or Partner may require presentation of a valid ID and/or the ticket (digital or printed) for admission.

3. Prices, VAT and payment

Participation in events organised directly by Climate Week Zurich is free of charge unless expressly stated otherwise.

Events organised by Partner may be subject to participation fees. Any such fees, including applicable VAT or other taxes, are determined solely by the relevant Partner and are indicated during the registration process.

Where a participation fee applies, the Partner is solely responsible for:

  • setting the price;
  • determining and applying VAT or other taxes;
  • issuing invoices;
  • collecting payments; and
  • defining the applicable payment terms and cancellation conditions.

Any contractual relationship in respect of paid Partner events is formed directly between the participant and the relevant Partner. Climate Week Zurich is not a party to such arrangements and bears no responsibility for pricing, payment processing, refunds, or admission decisions related to Partner events.

Any bank or transaction fees in connection with Partner events are borne by the participant, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.

4. Registration rules, transfer, misuse

All tickets and memberships for events organised by Climate Week Zurich are issued to the named participant and are strictly non-transferable. Once purchased, they may not be assigned, transferred, or otherwise made available to any third party, including in circumstances where the participant is unable to attend the relevant event or make use of the membership.

For paid events organised by Partner, any possibility to transfer tickets shall be governed exclusively by the terms and conditions of the respective Partner.

5. Participant cancellation

Registrations for events organised by Climate Week Zurich are binding once confirmed. As participation in such events is generally free of charge, cancellations do not give rise to any right to compensation.

For events organised by Partner organisations, cancellation and refund conditions are determined solely by the respective Partner. Unless the applicable Partner event page expressly provides for cancellation or refund rights, registrations are binding once confirmed.

Where a Partner has published a cancellation or refund policy, that policy shall apply exclusively to the relevant Partner event.

6. Programme and speaker changes, relocation, cancellation by the organiser

Climate Week Zurich or, in the case of Partner events, the Partner (the “Organiser”) may make reasonable changes to the programme, timing, speakers, venue, or format (incl. hybrid or digital delivery) where necessary.

Changes to the programme or speakers alone shall not entitle participants to cancel their registration or to any refund, unless expressly provided in the applicable event-specific terms.

If an event is cancelled in full by the Organiser, refunds follow the applicable event-specific refund policy and Swiss law. Travel and accommodation costs are not reimbursed.

7. Force majeure and official measures

Neither Climate Week Zurich nor any Partner organising an event shall be liable for any delay, modification, or cancellation of an event resulting from circumstances beyond their reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, pandemics, government measures, strikes, technical failures, or other unforeseen events (“Force Majeure Event”).

In the event of a Force Majeure Event, the affected Organiser may reschedule, modify, or cancel the event without liability. Where an event is cancelled due to a Force Majeure Event, any refunds shall be governed by the applicable event-specific terms. Travel, accommodation, or other related costs will not be reimbursed.

8. House rules, safety, conduct, exclusion

Participants must follow staff instructions and applicable venue house rules and safety measures. Climate Week Zurich and the Partner may refuse admission or remove participants for serious misconduct, disruption, harassment, endangerment, or legal violations. In such cases, refunds are excluded to the extent permitted by law.

9. Liability

For events organised by the Partners, the respective Partner acts as the organiser and is solely responsible for the planning, content, execution, and any related obligations. Climate Week Zurich shall not be liable for the organisation, performance, or cancellation of Partner Events.

Climate Week Zurich shall be liable only for damages caused by its own intentional or grossly negligent conduct. To the extent permitted by law, liability for slight negligence is excluded.

Participation in events is at the participant’s own risk. Climate Week Zurich shall not be liable for any indirect or consequential damages, including travel or accommodation costs, loss of profit, or missed opportunities.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes liability where such exclusion is not permitted under mandatory law.

10. Participant responsibility

Participants are responsible for ensuring that the information provided during registration is accurate and complete.

Participants shall use the platform and attend events in compliance with applicable laws and these Terms & Conditions, and shall not misuse access to events, registrations, or platform services for commercial, fraudulent, or disruptive purposes.

Participants remain responsible for their own travel, accommodation, and any related arrangements unless expressly stated otherwise.

Participants are responsible for their personal belongings. To the extent permitted by law, Climate Week Zurich and any Partner organising an event shall not be liable for the loss, theft, or damage of personal items.

11. Intellectual property and recordings

Presentations, workshops, slides, event concepts and materials may be protected by copyright and related rights. Use beyond private use (recording, reproduction, distribution, commercial use) requires permission from the rights holder. Unless explicitly permitted for a given session, participants may not record, livestream or commercially exploit any part of an event.

Where events are photographed or recorded by Climate Week Zurich or, in the case of Partner events, by the respective Organiser, the processing of personal data arising from such recordings is governed by the applicable Privacy Policy of Climate Week Zurich and, where relevant, by the privacy policies of the respective Partners.

12. Data protection

Climate Week Zurich processes personal data in connection with the organisation of events and operation of the platform. Where events are organised by the Partners, the respective Partner may also process personal data in its capacity as organiser.

The processing of personal data is governed by the applicable Privacy Policy of Climate Week Zurich and, where relevant, by the privacy policies of the respective Partners.

13. Suspension and refusal of access

Climate Week Zurich may refuse registration for, or suspend access to, the platform or any event where this is reasonably necessary for operational, legal, or security reasons.

This may include, in particular, cases of misuse of the platform, provision of false information, breach of these Terms & Conditions, or at the request of the relevant Partner in relation to a Partner Event. This provision applies independently of any removal from an event due to conduct or safety reasons.

14. Amendments

Climate Week Zurich may update or amend these Terms & Conditions from time to time where necessary. The current version will be published on the platform and shall apply from the date of publication.

Participants will be informed of material changes where appropriate. Continued use of the platform or participation in events after such publication constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms & Conditions.

15. Severability

If any provision is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective. The invalid provision shall be replaced by a valid provision that comes closest to the intended purpose.

16. Applicable law and jurisdiction

These Terms & Conditions are governed by substantive Swiss law. Exclusive place of jurisdiction is Zurich, Switzerland, subject to mandatory statutory venues.
