Climate Week Zurich: The New Platform for Measurable Progress in Sustainability

November 6, 2025

Fostering collaboration, creating practical solutions, and accelerating and revitalising the transformation to a more sustainable future in Europe: This is the goal of Climate Week Zurich, which will take place for the first time in May 2026.

Over 150 events with up to 8,000 participants will take place across the city of Zurich from 4 to 9 May 2026 under the umbrella of Climate Week Zurich. As an independent platform, Climate Week Zurich offers a new forum for business, civil society, policymakers and researchers to jointly advance sustainable innovation. The initiative was launched by ecoinvent, Google and GreenBuzz, joined shortly thereafter by partners including ETH Zurich and the Canton of Zurich.

Nic Meyer, CEO of ecoinvent and President of Climate Week Zurich, says: “Sustainability is not a side note but a central success factor for business and society in Switzerland and across Europe. With Climate Week Zurich, we are creating a platform that builds bridges across sectors, disciplines, and people, and makes the progress of this collaboration both visible and measurable.”

A targeted approach

Climate Week Zurich does not simply want to add another entry to the global sustainability calendar. Its ambition is to create real value. Five core characteristics define the newly established platform:

  • High-quality programme: All of the events, which are hosted independently by partner organisations during Climate Week Zurich, follow defined quality standards. The week-long programme is carefully curated by the organising committee.
  • Measurable outcomes: Using its own “Impact Measurement Framework,” Climate Week Zurich will track and evaluate its impact. This data-driven approach will help shape the strategy for future editions.
  • Cross-sector collaboration: Alongside public and private sector collaboration, arts and culture are an integral part of Climate Week Zurich to make sustainability developments more visible, engaging, and accessible to the wider public.
  • Location advantage: Located in the heart of Europe, Zurich is an ideal host city. It’s a hub of finance, business, and research institutions, and offers an excellent infrastructure to navigate a week of decentralised events.
  • Beyond the climate bubble: Climate Week Zurich aims to adapt its communications to different audiences. The goal is to make knowledge more accessible and reach groups that have not yet engaged with sustainability, or do not concern themselves with the topic anymore.

Adam Elman, Director of EMEA Sustainability at Google says: “At Google, we believe in the power of technology to address the world's most pressing challenges, and climate change is at the top of that list. Meaningful progress requires a collective effort. Climate Week Zurich creates the space to turn shared goals into tangible, measurable outcomes. We're excited to be a part of this important initiative from the very beginning.”

A broad alliance of business, policy, and civil society

As an independent, non-profit association, Climate Week Zurich works with leading organisations across a wide range of sectors. In addition to its founding members, Climate Week Zurich has gained over 90 partners including UBS, Sustainserv, myclimate, SIX, Zühlke, responsAbility, Danone Switzerland, and Climeworks.

Johannes Pokorny, Managing Director of Climate Week Zurich, adds: “Climate Week Zurich thrives on collaboration. The scope for events, workshops, discussions, and cultural formats, from theatre performances to concerts, is extensive. We invite organisations and companies to get involved and help shape this space. Meaningful progress happens when business, policy, and society come together and have the courage to explore new paths.”
